Chinese handset-maker ZTE has just launched two
mid-range devices at this year’s ongoing Mobile World Congress being held in
Barcelona.
Called the ZTE Blade V8 Lite and ZTE Blade V8 Mini,
the phones come with a special emphasis at price points and the camera feature.
However, the pricing of both the smartphones will be region-specific, and will
be announced at a later date.
In terms of specifications, the ZTE Blade V8 Mini
comes with a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display, and is powered by the 1.4GHz
Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor with Adreno 505 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
It offers 16GB of internal storage, which is further expandable via microSD
slot (up to 256GB).
In terms of optics, the ZTE Blade V8 Mini sports a
13-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel second sensor for depth sensing. The dual
camera setup allows the phone to pull off bokeh effects, post capture focusing,
automatic HDR, and even a 3D shooting mode that allows for creating 3D images
as well. The front shooter is a 5-megapixel fixed-focus camera for selfies with
LED flash support. The Blade V8 Mini packs a 2,800mAh battery and comes with a
fingerprint sensor at the back. The ZTE Blade V8 Mini will first launch in
European and Asian markets sometime in Spring.
The more affordable ZTE Blade V8 Lite comes with a
5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display and is powered by a MediaTek 6750 octa-core
processor. It packs 2GB RAM, 16B of internal storage with a microSD card slot
for expandable storage.
Additionally, the ZTE Blade V8 Lite sports an
8-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED Flash, and a 5-megapixel front camera
for selfies. It packs a 2,500mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor at the back.
It will be made available in Italy, Germany and Spain first, and in Asia
Pacific and European markets later on. Both the smartphones run on Android 7.0
Nougat out of the box, along with ZTE’s Mifavor 4.2.
When the Blade V8 Mini launches later this year, it
will be available in Europe and some Asia Pacific regions. ZTE didn’t reveal
how much it would cost.
The other new addition is the Blade V8 Lite, which
features a 5-inch FHD display and an 8-megapixel camera on the back. There’s a
MediaTek MTK6750 processor inside, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage
that supports a microSD card. The 2500mAh battery is non-removable, it’s
running Android 7.0 Nougat, and there’s a 5-megapixel front-facing camera above
the display.
The Blade V8 Lite will launch in Italy, Germany, and
Spain at some point in the near future, and according to ZTE, it will be
aggressively priced. However, the company didn’t divulge how much it would
actually be just yet.
